With the election over I must say that I was disappointed with many people that I looked to for higher ground and enlightened thinking among the chaos of politics. What concerned me the most were spiritual teachers that got caught up in right and wrong and hate and disdain for others in the political process.

This anger is so opposed to the teachings of the great masters, and I could feel that with such divisiveness the whole planet was suffering. So I asked myself, why if we are all supposed to be in a transformative state, would we be so impacted by an election? Why as teachers who are spending our days trying to help others eliminate fear in other’s lives are we spreading worry and hopelessness about an election? Many spiritual teachers were going crazy, as if life was over, it was time to give up or time to destroy everything. This honestly disturbed me.

We know that as a higher vibrational being that there is no higher office greater than the potential our thoughts have in the field of energy and vibration. Yet, there was so much helplessness, as I saw post after post on Facebook and other social media of fear.

Thank goodness my spiritual journey taught me to sit on the sidelines of rhetoric. I chose to be an observer of humanity and I realized that the story was unfolding as each one of our fears, our losses, our struggles were unveiled in the characters that ran for office. It was a senseless search for power, from a place of powerlessness thinking. We somehow believed that by voting for someone designed by the illusion we created, that we would find our strength. This was a risky bet because it would only be realized if our candidate won.

We really need to forget who lost or won, instead look at why we feel so powerless. All the women who had been looked over because of their gender and struggle for their personal power, the multitude who have felt powerless in their lives trusting in government for solutions, the poor who have felt that the world they live in does not offer opportunity, the wealthy who realize that their money is being managed by the faceless and uncompassioned, the minorities who have looked for understanding leaders and did not find any, the elderly fearful and powerless over their financial security and the new born wondering about the world they will live in. Imagine the impact of these thoughts and fears flying around the planet at a high-pitched vibration for the last 18 months? All of this fueled by the lack of trust and the fear of the unknown.

Ironically, by thinking our power resided in voting for a candidate for president, we became less powerful because we ditched the very thing that brings us ultimate power – the positive thoughts that create the highest and most powerful vibration of all.

I managed to keep my power intact through the process, although challenging at times. Now, don’t get me wrong, my ego wanted to jump in to every post or comment and tell everybody that I was right and they were wrong and yes, I had to talk myself off the ledge many times.  I instead took a deep breath and asked for the highest good for all and I trusted the process.

If every circumstance on the earth journey is a lesson, what was the lesson to be learned? My conclusion was that in front of me every day was my lesson to overcome my ego and to see the light and the potential in everyone. Spirit has sent us a challenge with this election to accept others and transform ourselves. It is not easy, but when the chaos ensues we need to practice what we preach. Just because our candidate did not win, do we drop our spiritual guidance and get pissed and fearful just for now and then head back to meditation and being one with the universe when it is all over?

I was in Mexico on the day of the election and I asked my Mexican taxi driver what he thought about the results. He said, I’m cool with it, you guys (meaning us from North America) will figure it out. I smiled and thought, he was right, it is always about trust. I continued to feel complete, integrating my energies and creating for myself and others something more than the egos of politicians. I stay seeped in the knowing that I am powerful sitting on a foundation of love and support for all, no matter what political party. I know the power of my being in sending energy to those who serve us to do the right thing.

Since I always look to the spiritual world for answers after the results were in I asked “what will we learn from Donald Trump? “The answer was, you are in a time of change and it is humanity’s time to learn about ego and how with the humbling of souls, the embracing of forgiveness and the dissolution of your differences you will then find that the real power is within all of you. So then I asked “Hillary”? She will teach women that to be powerful they do not need to be the CEO’s or the Presidents, these are illusions of power. The real power is what you do everyday to bring light and joy into the world and this will create more power than you have ever known.
