April is my month for major detox, but I am not speaking just about the body here. I am talking about your life. Cleansing and detoxing has been around since the time of Hippocrates and should be an integral part of taking care of you. Toxins are any substance that your body does not use and is harmful. The accumulation of too many toxins in your body can cause digestive problems, fatigue, headaches and skin conditions. Most of the toxins in your body are stored in your fat cells, so as you lose fat, you lose toxins and the body needs help to move them out!

Here is my four week approach to a life detox:

My favorite detox kits are from the Global Healing Center. Go here to purchase the Body Cleanse Advance Kit. On their website you will find a ton of videos about why you should detox, the health benefits and a helpful guide called the Green Body Cleanse and  lots of tips about how to restore your health.

Stop by the grocery store and be sure you have plenty of  garbage bags and some apple cider vinegar. Next stop, head to the office supply store and get some folders, file boxes, labels and whatever else you need for organization. You will also need a notebook or journal so if you do not have one, pick one up. Next, go to your calendar and schedule a 30 minute meditation upon waking every day. For a guided meditation you can download or purchase my meditation CD here.  Lastly, go to your calendar and schedule four hours per week for your life detox projects. This will mean 16 hours dedicated to the cause during one month.

Begin the body cleanse, following the instructions precisely as indicated. Start writing in your journal, take note about how you are feeling, what does your stomach feel like? your brain? your energy levels? It is important to create a baseline so that you can monitor your progress throughout the month. You will see dramatic changes so take note of the differences. Three times per week you will take a medicated bath with three cups of epsom salts, one cup of baking soda and several drops of one of the following oils, choose depending on your needs: Place 12 drops of your favorite essential oil from the list below:

Your next project is to go to your garage and get rid of all toxic products you have stored there. Everything that you will use in your home from now on should be environmentally friendly especially to the insect world. Eliminate toxic pesticides, motor fluids and anything else that is taking up toxic space.  Here is a good video about pesticides. Now head for the kitchen and where you store your cleaning supplies. Check the labels to insure that they are all non toxic too. Whatever doesn’t meet the scrutiny, throw them out! Here is a link to where I buy my cleaning products at a great price, shipping included and they deliver to your front door. You can also make your own cleaning supplies. Doterra has awesome recipes here. Another area that is often missed is your clothing so next we go to the laundry room. Be absolutely sure that your detergents are not toxic and forget the toxic dryer sheets, yuk! Instead, get some dryer balls and simply place some drops of essential oils on them and throw them in the dryer. My favorite laundry products are Molly’s Suds.

Continue your detox meditation, removing toxic thoughts and past traumas from the body. You can read more about thaHERE.

We are now heading to your cosmetic drawer to check everything that you put on your skin. Print out this list and take it with you to examine the labels to see if any of these toxin are in your cosmetics. If so, throw it out. The price you pay in poor health is way more than the price of anything with toxins in it. By now you have finished your cleanse and started dumping the sludge from your system and it is time to schedule a colonic. Colonics will remove old fecal matter and the accumulation of waste on the walls of your colon to prevent a breeding ground for parasites, yeast, bad bacteria and viruses. It will also help to remove toxic chemicals that we are exposed to every day from foods we eat, water, air, stress and using the wrong products. It is always best to find a seasoned practitioner who can explain the process and get you the best results.   Take a hard look at the people in your life and start making cuts. Although our culture says that you are suppose to hang in there with family, sometimes it is okay to distance yourself if their energy is detrimental. If you are a constant victim of judging, if they are disrespectful and share private information with other family members or only pick up the phone when they need something then it is time to call it quits. Removing them from your life and your mind will leave a bigger space for more loving and kinder people to show up. Holding on, can mean an emotional drain leaving you sick and tired. Your thoughts and beliefs can be the most toxic things you carry around with you. Here is a great article for what crystals to use you in that effort. It may also be time to visit forgiveness and move on, click here for support.

Getting uncluttered on all levels and with a clean slate start over and get over what you have been wrongly hanging on to.

The Journey to Joy,

Lori
